Any suggestions

I recently damaged my ring finger on my shooting hand from shooting with fingers. Completely numb now for weeks. My wife bought me a mechanical release for Father's Day. I shoot a 50# recurve. Not sure what I feel about it. Very awkward. Is it worth giving the release some time and effort? Or is there anything I can do to not further damage my finger

I'm, for one, am not opposed to a person having to use a release with traditional equipment if will help them enjoy the sport, outdoors, etc.
I tried one for a couple of shots but since I normally release quickly it didn't feel right. If I had to use one I would have to change my shooting style.
have you tried with just 2 fingers?
Rule #1: PICK A SPOT!!!!! Rule#2: repeat #1

Are shooting with a glove or a Tab? I shoot one over and two under, tried three under but that pinched my fingers. Also the shorter the bow the more it pinches when I used to shoot compounds my fingers would be numb months after season was over. Alex
