Great day wetting a line

Postby Greywolf » Mon Jul 01, 2013 12:19 am

Friday was my birthday, so we celebrated it today since Friday was a work day for everyone(except me it was a paid day off for me)
So they asked if I wanted to go fishing, I said sure, I love to fish, great we'll go too. What?

Ok this is different, so after church we loaded the truck and off we went.We set up and got the lines out, it was nice day, light breeze, partly cloudy. water looked.... fishy !!

Well, 10 Hammerhead sharks, 1 Papio (salt water crappie) i Bonefish and 2-3 almost hook ups, and 1 really Huge state record fish due to line break off... hey it's my story Ok? :rolf:

This fish she is holding, can grow to #80-#100 when full grown in 4-5 years.
The dog? Well, I tried to use him for bait for bigger sharks but they wouldn't let me have him.... Oh well.....

Whoa! What's that going off in the background in the pic with you holding the hammerhead?

Nothing those are two cranes, That is a floating dry dock repair/storage area.

Does look like couple rockets going up..... The smoke is clouds on the horizon.

Funny you should ask, we looked yesterday !!! Them little suckers have 2-3 rows of teeth already !! not like Momma's set but they are razor sharp, if they grab a Manini (live bait fish) give a shake or two, it'll have a perfect semi circle bite removed on the fish.
Mine are bigger, his are more

Looks like everybody was catching fish though. The little hammerheads remind me of a trip to the hatchery here in Oklahoma they had two tanks full of little paddlefish another weird looking fish. Its good to see a family out having fun. Alex

And in the top picture you see that tall mounds of coral, sand, rock and or stuff piled up, there 8 acres that tall and solid, it's the bottom of the deep water harbor, all from drag line dredging.
The depth of the harbor is 65-80 feet from where we were fishing to the mouth of the harbor as you can see in the picture of the Alpha Female battling the huge nam eating shark over my left shoulder.
it's a fantastic sight as the sun is setting behind the two cranes and twilight slowly creeps into the harbor, then the lights come on.

Recently they have closed the Harbor to night fishing, they say people leave too much trash from drinking(which isn't allowed) so a couple of idiots ruin it for everyone.

Just a place I wanted to share.

Mark I don't see one of a hammerhead getting batted. I see the caption but it looks like she has one on the line. Alex

Sat yesterday just about in between the first and second rod guides in the above picture, we had a straight shot out to the ocean. caught 3-4 sharks a Bonefish, and couple more other bottom fish, was a great time
>>--DW-->> and I spent 5-6 hours just watching the world go by.
Next week we are going around to the other side of the island, maybe find something bigger. might even break out the 12 foot surf set for this trip

Seems like I'm cramming things into the final weekend, yesterday DW and I went to the harbor, kinda good but little slow so we did a great job at holding the chairs down

We did manage to have a bit of luck.

Oh...and BTW he's looking for a 12 ga muzzleloader for this up coming bird season, if anyone wants to make room in the closet or gun safe.
He has a couple recurves to use in the trade.
