Texas Hog down!

Another great trip to Texas chasing hogs. This was the Professional Bowhunters Society hunt at the Spike Box Ranch. Good times and good folks.

I used my A&H ACS longbow which is 59@28. About 63 lbs at my draw. I used Easton Axis Traditional 340s carbons with 50 grain brass insert and Simmons Interceptors at 190 grains. That gave me 240 grs up front and 590 grains overall arrow weight (588 on the harvest arrow). First time I have had a hog shot dead in its tracks. The arrow hit hard and the sow maybe took one step and expired. It all happened so fast and I was shocked. So much so that it attracted two other hogs and I made a play on them but was busted by the wind. They seemed to be coming to investigate the squeal they heard.

Great job, Bryan. Very nice photo of the sow and your gear. I saw the video dragging her out. Good eating there!
