Next weekend I will have an event at deer camp. My son and his friends will join me at deer camp. I have some neck roast and vegetables ready to go. Saturday morning we will put on our back packs and walk the 1.5 miles from road to camp. If the spring is not too frozen I will start the fire then get water. As soon a the camp gets above freezing the water will start to boil. I will brown the venison separately with a few onions then boil the meat all day. The vegetables will go in at dusk. Once the gas lights are lit the camp will be cozy and the company good. We may even snack and have a home brew before dinner. This ritual has become a way to celebrate a successful hunt. It also make a nice bridge from the end of one season to the anticipation of next fall.
