Yeah, I use them quite alot for hunting and fishing. The important thing is to look at what time the higher value occures. I also have a watch with this info on it. Here's a link to the free stuff.

I read Jeff Murray's book "Moon Struck" a decade ago and have began paying attention to deer movement in relation to moon phases ever since. When factors such as weather fronts, hormones and hunting pressure are not adding variables to the mix, I have observed that cervids tend to feed and move when the moon is overhead and under-foot. During the waxing and waning phases (half-moons) that occurs at "primetime" for bowhunters...........5-8am and pm. During new and full moons, peak movement occurs at noon and midnight which means that most hunters don't observe nearly as much movement at typical hunting times. I've hunted days during the full moon phase and observed excellent deer movement from 11-1pm.

Of course individual deer move for a variety of reasons and even on the worst of moon phases a few deer might be seen. If it happens to be the 'right' deer, the only one you see could be worth a long span of time on stand without much action. Thus I don't advocate staying at home when the moon phase isn't perfect. However if I was planning an expensive out-of-state whitetail hunt, you can bet I would be checking the moon charts and picking the optimal week.

Oh most definately!!

But theres 3 things that will effect movement even during the best of phases. Weather, pressure, and the RUT!

But turn yer glass upside down to make it half full. Get an area without heavy hunting pressure, get the right weather, and add the rut and a good moon phase and BAM! ya better be on ya toes.

not a bad site to see the phase of the moon, I haven't paid much attention to lunar tables but I like to know the moon phase months or years in advance

I've watched them for years, and have had about the same
results as Sparta-T.
Works on the fish to, as long as the weather doesn't
mess with it to bad.

I've been using this chart with some success. http://www.solunarforecast.com/worldcalendar.aspx
It takes location (and therefore time zones as well as variations within time zones) into account which I couldn't figure out how to do with the previously posted chart.

This is my favorite website for keeping track of the moon phase. I have had good success paying attention not only to the phase of the moon but also to the time when the moon is at it's peak or zenith. Sometimes my schedule is very hectic and I don't get to spend as much time in the woods as I would like so I try to maximize my hunting time by watching the moon.

I am a certified Luna-tic!!!!! It helps to know where to be or when to hunt during the phases. Sometimes evening spots become morning spots during certain phases and vise versa.

Post up December please, I have a lot of time off coming up and don't know how you adjust this. I love hunting with the moon phase, got a watch from Casio and check it daily. Saw five today from 12:05 to 1:00, which by my watch and what I saw was moon set today. Can you make it a "sticky" or a section in one of the hunting forums?

I have always looked at the moon phases for hunting and fishing. I think that we have all heard and used these with & without success.the first does outweigh the latter for me. jakedog

When it comes to fishing and how the moon affects the tides, I use this Tide Predictor below. Try it out. Once on the page, pick your state and just keep navigating. "Scrolling down" will be required. ;) Just might work for land animals too.
