Who Makes Leather Sheaths??

Post by Nala » Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:20 pm

Hey all,

I have had an idea rolling around in my head ever since I seen pics of those Bear Kits that Fred used to carry and sell a long time ago. They are great looking knife kits for sure.

I would like to find out what it would cost to make a sheath setup similar to that except for different components. I wouldn't be using a western knife, I would use something similar though.

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone that makes sheaths like those Bear Hunter Kits for a reasonable price? Or if you know, what would something like that cost to have made, generally speaking? I am just in the ciphering stage right now and would like to get some info before I go any farther.

Thanks for your time.

If nothing else, you could probably find a shoe repair shop that could sew one up for you. Might be at the upper end of the price range. It's not that hard to put one together yourself, just make a paper pattern first. Then use this to cut the leather. The minimum tools would probably be an awl and heavy needles. Use waxed thread or artificial senew. There is a lot of help on here to guide you through.

Follow the instructions in the link above and you won't go wrong. The first one I ever made, came out perfect. I love it! Wish I knew how to post pictures on here. I'd show it to you.

Really cool design on that sheath White Falcon!
