Chris - Yes, the 56" Kodiaks are cool little bows.

Of the 56" Kodiaks, I like 1960 best for shooting, (of course it goes without saying, that the same is true for 60" too). Traded for a refinished 56" 50# 1960 last year, "Speedy". He is a dream to shoot. Have two other 56" 60s in the collection that are nice shooters too. Most 56" 59s that I have owned and seen are just a little too frail for my liking.

I just hope someone here gets "The Little MSW" so we can see it around from time to time.

Wonder if anyone recall's my prediction just a few short weeks ago, that there would be many great things show up this year...

It never seems to end...

Trap - I'm sure you realize that I was really happy to win our bet...

Well, it did not top the all time record for the Kodiak price on eBay, but came close.

At $2,126.00 and only 24# it went for $88.58 a pound, which is a record.

Expensive Little Rascal, especially when calculated by the pound.

If I have my choice of the type of soda for my winnings, I would like a diet 7-Up, not for the drink, but for the can as it is light in color.

Please inscribe on the can in heavy black letters...

56" MSW 1959 Kodiak
1-26-2010
TRAP

Thanks so much Trap, that can will mean a lot to me.

Thanks Chris ! Spoken like the true gentleman you are.

Guys – I feel more than humbled and honored to be the person who won the auction. Frankly, as I said elsewhere, I had no intention of bidding again after my initial recreational bid of Crazy Eights $888.88.

During the last two days of the auction, two very good collector friends, helped me along to see the error of my thinking, and agreed to buy some other items from me, so I was able to bid at the end of the auction. I’m not going to mention your names, but you two guys know who you are, and I’m sure you know how much I truly appreciate your help.

I feel bad that all the bidders didn’t win. If it is any consolation, now that one has surfaced, it is encouraging to think that others may surface in the future.

After its arrival at the Arsenal, everyone will be able to see The Little Rascal, electronically or when they visit in person.

I'll promise to have it on display at Compton this June for everyone to enjoy.

While this is far and away the most I have ever paid for any Kodiak, some other Kodiaks have sold for slightly more a few years ago when Kodiak prices were at their peak.

Frankly, I don’t believe the bow is really worth anywhere near what it sold for. I completely agree with Trap’s statement somewhere else, that was something to the effect that, because of all the tape residue that was previously on the bow, it looked like it was probably used by some 10-year old for shooting frogs.

All that and a Diet 7-Up!

I bet you a case of Dr. Pepper that :

A. Trap doesn't drill out the riser for a compass
B. Frogs breath easier in your zipcode this Spring
C. You put a new layer of steel on your front door.
D. You are writing a 3 page set of instructions for the shipping container. The booklet is for the courier.

Tony -

I won't bet, simply because you have already lost...

A. True - Trap won't 't drill out the riser for a compass
B. True - Frogs will breath easier in this zip code this Spring
C. False - Actually, I welded the steel front door closed last evening. The only entrance into the place now is through a secret concrete bunker.
D. False - I spoke to the seller this morning to give shipping container instructions first hand so there would not be any misunderstanding that might occur in a written document.

Mike -

The above quote that you mentioned was taken from my post on Thu Jan 21, 2010, 2:07 pm

And as I said this morning, on Wed Jan 27, 2010, 10:09 am
During the last two days of the auction, two very good collector friends, helped me along to see the error of my thinking, and agreed to buy some other items from me, so I was able to bid at the end of the auction.
Without these two friends changing my mind about bidding, I never would have bid again.

And without their help of buying other items from me to finance my bids at the end, I never would have been in a position to bid again.

While some (not you Mike) have viewed some events of this auction by the seller as being a model for greed and selfishness...

I view the events that I was involved with as genuine acts of concern, friendship, good will, and kindness.

Congrats Wade,

I'm happy that the bow ended up in a place where it can and will be shared with many, instead of in some retail store's dungeon or in some obscure collection for private viewing only.

It looks like "the Little Rascal's" frog-whacking days are over.

Trap - Thanks.

Not sure "The Little Rascal's" frog-whacking days are really over.

A couple of hours after the auction was over last night, I happened to think of your 10-year frog shooting comment and envisioned taking my 10-year niece on a frog shooting adventure with "The Little Rascal" all rigged up for frogs complete with reel secured with masking tape.

Come to think of it, I have another niece who has a son who turned 10 last November. He just started in archery right after Christmas, and would be another good candidate to go along for a 10-year old frog-whacking day with "The Little Rascal".

I'll have to see if we can get them worked up to 24# and get them both a 1959 Kodiak T-Shirt before this spring.

What photographs those would be...

Doc - I thought we agreed, that that decimal point would be after the three zeros... :?: :?: :?:

Rather then were you have incorrectly placed it, in the middle of the 4 numbers. 8-)

Will get those 4- 1960 Kodiaks out as soon as the correct amount arrives. ;)

Hink - We'll measure the actual draw weight of The Little Rascal when it arrives and make the final cost per pound calculation with the postage and insurance figured in.

Looks like the only way I can afford to be able to make it to Kalamazoo now is via Greyhound.

634 miles, 14 hours, $96.50 each way.

Don't know if I'm up to a 14 hour bus ride sitting between two Sumo wrestlers who need a shower...

I was thinking of pitching my pup tent outside and waiting by the mail box for the next few days for the arrival of "The Little Rascal". Would hate to be in Kalamazoo while he is abandoned on the front porch and possibly have the neighbor kids hijack him for a bunny shooting party.

Congratulations from me also Wade! The Arsenal is a great home for such a rare collectible- w/ someone who appreciates it historical value not it's profit margin. (Just don't put the lil' guy too close to it's HEAVY WEIGHT big brothers you have.....he'll get "stress" cracks from shear TERROR!! )
