Dropping Them up Here

Post by KsBow » Sun Jan 19, 2014 10:50 am

They're putting them on the ground up here. I found one while looking for my last doe. It was less than 50 yards from where this little buck got his picture taken.
Supposed to be 65 today. May go out.

Some Okies need to make a trip up there as soon as the snow is gone and it warms up a little. we could make a sweep through the grass and woods looking for horns.
We could also bring our saws and gloves to clear more trails in the woods so the deer wouldn't have to crawl under all of the trees to get to water and corn. :D
I have three cameras up right now and can't wait to see what made it through the season on our place.
I'm going by there sometime next week onthe way back from Guymon. Will have some to post I'm sure. Might be slick heads.

Good Idea Mikee. I know an old outfitter that would appreciate the help. He could yank a bunch of stands to repair and rehang in the future too. :applaud:

Well, I got out for a couple of hours today. Pumped the tank full. Removed the polar ice cap that was up to a foot thick for about half the tank and 6 to 8 inches for the rest of the tank.
Walked a few miles looking for sheds. Walked a fence line on the north side of the woods. Walked the north end. Found two turkey kill sites but no sheds. Took the batteries out of the feeders. Will put em back in late march.
All in all, a great warm day.

The bucks are still sporting their head gear in Oklahoma , they night crew seen two feeding by the pike last night, one was an eight point and the other a ten , I pulled a little fork horn off that had been hit and he still had his also ( at least one , looked like he took a head shot from a truck bumper ).

I put a camera up earlier in the week and loaded a feeder with corn and milo. I've been getting lots of visitors. Some with hair, some with feathers AND Beards.

Ralph looks likes you got a whole bunch of chubby does. I went to the property Friday but the dog herd was a no show but I did see 40 turkeys a couple of long beards nice when you're 200 yards away and can see beards without magnification. Alex

Ralph looks like you have a very good herd! My local group of Muelies is going to be growing by the look of the does out in the meadow. They are all back down from the tops to feed and the bucks are all antlerless again......Time to see if I can get a day to hike the top of our mountain and see if I can find a rack or two. Thats a nice flock of turkey as well!!
