Recouperating but can't seem to relax.....

So this week I have had a lot of time to try and ignore the result of last Monday's adventure - So I've tried to keep busy building a new pea shooter - .32 Traditions kit - think it should make a good squirrel zapper..
So far I have the barrel blued and finished, The stock is fitted and finished to a satin oiling - now it must sit for a while before I put the final oil finish on and buff it up. While I wait for the oil finish to cure, I'm working on the possibles kit, gathering the tools and stitching up an elk skin possibles bag, and a tooled shoulder strap for the rifle - still have two more weeks to go - can't lift anything or drive myself anywhere - just have to keep my self busy around the house and wait until I can get the Doc to say I can begin to act "normal" again - scary I might finish a project or two!

I know the feeling all to well, Nine weeks tomorrow since my total knee replacement. They said it'll be a year for a full recovery. My knee is a set(appliance) that will allow me to bend my knee to 135 degrees and have more foot osculation because of me being a carpenter, I step with my foot sometimes 120 degrees behind my knee from the ladder onto a wall or what ever.

I'm bending at 135 now and can exceed that if I stoop down, so I have to learn not to go as far as I do, because it's a whopping 142 degrees 7 degrees past where I should be in 6 months not 9 weeks.
So enjoy the time, go slow and pick out a couple of long over due projects and go at a steady slow pace till they are done.
Monday is my last PT day, so Technically I can go back to work on Tuesday. so life is on it's road to recovery faster than I thought or realized.
The best thing? I lost #31 and still going down. hopefully by December 14 th this year. I'll be at or just north of #250 for my daughters wedding.

Sometimes it's tough, like watching the grass grow. but just do easy.

Thanks Greywolf - I'm glad to hear you are making steady progress (especially on the wedding target), I know the knee r&r is a long road - but good to hear that the Doc's are turning you loose.... This deal isn't near the adventure you are having - but it drives me crazy being cooped up - so far the work bench is all dusted off all the tools are back in the tool box and I'm actually thinking I might sweep the floor!
I've got several long term projects I intend to work on the next two weeks - then I get to start a new job! seems like it all happens at once......
Take it easy on that new knee no extra bending until it's time! keep up the good work!

Looking good. Sometimes we get wound up in the trying to get small things done syndrome. Been there, seems like things still grow and so does the list.

Hope everything is good

I like to say "I dont't sweat the small stuff" but - Sometimes it's the small stuff that makes a difference when you are talking about equipment and craft....... been on that pack trip where you find out everyone forgot the matches after a day of hiking into the wilderness....

Mostly its too many projects and not enough lifetimes! :D

Hope that knee is workin as advertised!

thought you were shipping that one last week mark - you better watch out or it will find itself in the collection and you will be working on another
