what do you guys use to put the radius on the shelf when bow building, is there an easy way I always have trouble getting a good radius on my shelf

I just free hand mine, all depends on how I feel too sometimes I'll put the high point further back of center and put more of a "slope" on the shelf.

I use a #49 Nicholson rasp to get my shape so I don't take off to much at one time.

I leave the straight shelf on till I shape the handle and grip, then just radius from there and how it looks. If you like close to "shooting off the knuckle" make it lower.
I like to leave at least 1/4 inch minimum at the highest point. If they say they might go with a elevated rest I'll move the high point 2/3rds back. so they have room.

Rule is there is no rule, just how ever you like it. some like the top of the shelf 1 1/4 inch up from center but I do 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" up from center. then again that....
is all subject to change.
