(Fresh) Shark skin for grip

Postby docmann » Thu Jun 23, 2016 10:10 pm

Landed this 6' Black Top shark off the Florida coast.
In addition to making a bucket load of filets, I saved two long strips of hide. I know there are a lot of civil war-era swords with shark skin overlaying the handles, we'll see what kind of grips these make for my recenty-made Mollie.

Read about seventy-eleven ways to cure shark skin. Ultimately decided to flesh it out and salt it down.
We'll see.
