Let the ladies hunt--37# bow/40 yds NO PROBLEM!!

A lot of my buddies kid me about the "girlie" bows I like to 3D & hunt with, but HEY...they will do the job.

Let your ladies and daughters hunt with bows they are comfortable shooting and they will bring home some meat!!

Hope everyone had a Happy V-Day

My second Blacktail TD recurve is 66", 37# @ 30". I love shooting it at target butts and 3D, but I'm also planning on bowhunting with it too.

Just know your limits and have good shot placement and you will be successful that goes for us men as well.

The nicest rack I have seen taken with a bow was a ten point taken with a 45# black locust, 62' NTN, by a 25 yr old gal on her first hunt.

The arrow passed clean through at 20 yards and was standing up yards behind .

I am a lady that hunts with a #40 bow. But I keep all my shots under 15 yards. I can easily hit a deer at further distances, just want to make sure they go down!

You don't need a lot of weight if your heads are ultra sharp and you hit them in the boiler room!

Ladyhawk

Streatch out girl! I have killed moose and black bear with a 40 pound bow!

Whats this "let the ladies hunt" crap! Like it's your decison wether or not she hunts, that choice is up to HER! The post just seems very sexist too me. I have known many fine huntresses who were every bit cabible of pulling a 60 pound bow. Read an artical in Traditional bow hunter not long ago about a husband and wife team hunting cape buff with 75 pound bows. Seriously this is 2010 not 1950!

Gosh o' mighty Rick wasn't meant to be sexist at all -- the gals have been hunting for ages and I wanted to point that out. I'm an archery history lover and just thought it was a cool article --The "let the ladies hunt" title was more intended to convey a "let them hunt w/ light bows they can handle and don't over-bow them" type message.

Lady Hawk --if the title our post conveyed a sexist attitude to you my apologies!

There are a number of Lady Archers who would deer hunt, if, they just got some encouragement to from their husbands. I know several, there have to be more.

The Lady with the Black Locust bow finally went after a lot of encouragement from her father who made the bow for her and her husband.

It was something the whole family celebrated.

Ya agreed I just reread this and I definitely own the thread you an apology. Sorry about that!

Late winter up here can be a little nuts and unusually warm weather is really messing up hunts and fishing. Again Im sorry seems I'm suffering a rather strong case of cabin fever.
