Hundreds of years of hog hunting....

might be in jeopardy in Hawaii. Yep you read right. Hunting hogs with dogs just might become extinct in Hawaii.
let me fill ya in. Last Thursday late afternoon in a small wooded valley here on Oahu, a woman was just minding her own business puttering in the garden on her property in the back of this valley. when a hog come stumbling into her yard chewed up by dogs.
There were not hunters in pursuit of this hog so they "lost it" it's only #40-#50 with several puncture wounds inflicted on the hog.

Well she called the local humane society to come out and care for this animal, we'll they dispatched a truck and the hog was mercifully euthanized. (as the reported stated in the story)

We now bring in the Humane society of America and their talking mouthpiece to be interviewed (all the while a YouTube video is playing of 8-9 dogs on a screaming hog...Hog dogging as it's called)

Well she starts the rant and they interview the President of the Hawaii pig hunter association who does themselves no good at all by saying "WHAT? we get one problem with lots of pigs now, what ya gonna do when we no more hunt pigs and they are even worse now" (Pigeon is spoken here)

So the talking mouth piece, threaten to file charges and cause a big stink... So Hawaii DLNR (Department of Land and Natural Resources) Said they will come up with new rules and laws for pig hunting.

I'm sorry, what new laws? WHAT ? Dogs have to have rubber caps put on their K-9 Teeth to prevent a puncture wound?
HSUS wants and will probably get some animal cruelty law passed which is one step closer to Banning hunting.

So I did my part, I called the out going Governor and requested a sit down meeting before she leaves office, I want to be appointed (at 75K a yr) humane hog removal specialist, I'll be in charge of removing hogs in a humane manner, Box traps and controlled leg hold snares and the use of night hunting with approved humane archery gear. ( they said shooting a hog was much more humane)

so I'll keep ya informed of what happens and how DLNR kiss the arse of HSUS

And when the hogs start tearing up her garden, because they can when no one is hunting them, she'll be singing a different tune. I hate to hear that, keep us informed Mark.

The only thing that happened this session, was they passed a law for fining a person for their dogs causing "damage" while hunting. Have no clue how they are going to enforce that, but I guess if they have the dog and or own they can fine the person, if they "see the violation" Got to give the lawyers credit, they know how to write a "BS" bill when they want too.

I guess a "Well Known" Senator talked to the Presidents of a couple hunting clubs and told them to reel in the member before something really bad happens.

I know it's an old topic, but there are no feral dogs in Hawaii any more? When I was a kid growing up there they had a big problem out by Waimanalo with wild dogs. They killed a kid, IIRC, and there was a big dog hunt for a week or so. That was in the late in the 1950s, early 1960s.
