Postby robert n leeper » Wed Feb 18, 2009 6:23 pm

bear belly bacon was a favorite of my grand dads. he used to fly the mail plane from portland to anchorage alaska back in the late 1920s

1 lb of thick sliced bear belly, wash it down real good and season it with salt. smoke it in the smoker for 8 days and let it sit 48 hours before you cook it in thecooler

add two small onions and three potatoes , fry it all up and use some guinea eggs to balance it out salt and pepper. he also said seal belly was good bacon too. and whale belly, but then i could never find out if he was pulling my leg or not, so
i don't know what to believe
Joseph had a coat of many colors, mine are green brown tan and gray
