dried spud flakes

Postby robert n leeper » Fri Feb 04, 2011 5:33 am

here is one for the dehydrator i thought id pass on

5 lbs of potatoes peeled and cut with a spiral corkscrew cutter and cut into thin chips
large kettle of rapidly boiling water
put potato chips in boiling water for 3 minutes and plunge into ice water (aka blanching)
place in dehydrator on high heat for 36 hours
will end up as dried potatoes for soups or mashies ..makes about 34 to 36 ozs of dried potatoes
its a bargain compared to what you;d pay in the store for instant mashies
store in airtight bag , should be crisp and brak with a snap....enjoy

i also put some hot sauce on them to give them a lot of zing :O
Joseph had a coat of many colors, mine are green brown tan and gray

Sounds not bad! I have never tried to cook anything like that, but I think it's worth trying. My kids would love that :)
