goodness gracious living

one evening i and an old friend reminisced about a fishing trip we took a few years back and the food we prepared while on the trip. i had told him about an old recipe i'd run across using cream, durham flour and salt to make up a hot mush and topping it with blackberries cooked with a bit of honey and water to make a fine syrup. my friend broke down and told me that he'd used that old recipe for blackjack custard (a little jack daniels added for flavor) for a long time. an old prairie staple when you add an egg white to it...this morning i got a call about my old friend. He lost his home in tornado during the past few days down in mississippi and was also badly injured during the same and wasn't expected to live . so for tommie
id like folks to say a little prayer for him and fix up a mess of catfish and corn dodgers and make up batch of blackjack custard in memory of a good old boy that knew how to make something out of very little and turn it into a feast fit for a king .
Joseph had a coat of many colors, mine are green brown tan and gray
