Darn near got spooled on Saturday evening, right when we were packing up, I picked up the second pole and it took off, I thought I had hooked a ski boat, it just headed out towards open water, with 100 feet of line left it just spit the bait. I had the drag at 85% and there was no stopping or slowing what ever it was down. the bait was 20 yds out in 5 feet of water maybe 8 feet. Next time I'll grab the surf board and hop on and tell my buddy to call the coast guard to rescue me in open water LOL

Sure was good to feel that !!!

Maybe Friday evening I'll go again.

Was using Squid strips and a #2 Circle hook #20 line #15 leader may bump the leader up to #30, till I get spanked I'll keep my original combo. then I'll break out the big gear !!!

I was fishing next to a brushpile under the bridge at Perkins , found a nice hole under there 11 foot deep on one side 8 foot on the other. The Cimeron river is up and very muddy after the rain , may go up river to a creek that dumps in and run lines this weekend. The big flats may take longer to find the bait in the muddy water and there is alot of current around the pile , may be hard to fish there if the water doesn't go down. Greywolf , there may be a kayak rental there i know they are poping up everywhere , seen storys in magazne about kayak fishing around the islands looks like you might need a suport boat to get you back to teraferma though. Here are a few photos of what we get by hand [ noodling , ben doing it before i could swim] fist photo big one 45# other 38# , second photo my brother with his biggest cat noodling was 57# frind of mine with a fish around 30# last my 38# and a couple in the 20's if youre wondering i am the five foot giant in the photos  Hope to pull one of those into my kayak soon.

Almost forgot I am useing bluegill in the 3 to 4 inch range , smaller and I get alot of chanel cat and small flats any bigger and they mouth it to mutch and can't get a good hookset on them , sometimes I will use bullheds about the same size only I cut the sharp fins off so they get taken quicker. I always take one smaller rod with me to catch chanels , carp , and drum to keep from getting bord , the big ones move whenever they get ready not when you want them to.

I had planed to go back out over the weekend but my brother and his budy brough their kids down to my pond to fish so I stayed to help . Six young ones is hard to keep up with . Wor myself out baiting hooks and untangling lines . One of the little girls about 5 years old out fished all the others , she kept count and fought a 2# bass and a 7# chanelcat . Was a lot of fun but Wor out at the end of the day.
