A morning on the river nice Pike

I went to my favorite river spot this morning and the river didnt let me down I caught this 12.5 pound Northern Pike on the Cannon river in southern Minnesota, I have been fishing this spot for decades and when the conditions are right its hot for big Pike. This girl hit a Mepps musky killer with yellow bucktail and a copper blade. She Made my morning in less than a dozen casts.

:77: Nice fish. I've never caught one of them, but I would love to sometime. How are they on a plate beside a handfull of hush puppies? Congratulations!

They are excellent eating either deep fried or grilled, I also make fish spead out of pike, boil the fish until the fillet turns white, then cool and remove any bones, add miracle whip until fish sticks together, salt and pepper add a little chopped onion, and spinkle with paparika and put on crackers of choice or makes an awesome sandwich spread. This receipe works with any white flakey fish.

Nice fish! I've caught northerns on a fly rod in Manitoba while up there bear hunting. They are a hoot to catch. My wife, Miss Dianne, caught a 42 incher on out second trip up there. I didn't shoot a bear, but....still had a taxidermy bill. Imagine that! Plus, some of my antler mounts got moved from the living room only to be replace by a big ol toothy fish with a red and white spoon hanging out of it's jaw. :applaud:
