Round Bale Blind

Made a round bale blind. Palette, plywood, cattle panel, baling twine, prairie hay, and some netting. 63 inches high inside, 59 inched front to back. Oh Yeah, some burlap for the sides and some hinges for the door.

Rocky Mountain Selfbow Jamboree

Looks like the OSS will be heading to Montana next July to help put on the initial Rocky Mountain Selfbow Jamboree. We'll be taking equipment and Osage for participants. We'll be trying to find someone that knows enough about building selfbows to actually instruct participants...lol.. Looks like we'...

Must be Dog Days of Summer...Not a lot of activity. The OJam FB site has taken some activity off TradRag. I try to frequent both. :applaud:

Re: What did you do today 2016?

On this memorial morning I went to the river with night crawlers and some carp sides. I caught 3 smaller channels in the first 5 minutes. A short time later I landed a keeper channel of six pounds. Another half hour and I hammered a flathead on a slice of a carp side. This one came in at ten pounds....

Motley

Here's a lil selfbow I finished up last week. Found a short stave that has been curing for four years, so I jumped on it. When I got down to a growth ring, I found a mottled pattern of red, brown, and yellow. Since it had a couple of kinks, I had thought it would be perfect for some copperhead skins...

Mikee, that one reminds me of Humpty Dumpty... :77: I finished Motley today. Added the wax, handle, floppy rest, new string, beaver balls. I put about 25 arrows through it prior to adding the silencers. I think I could kill something with it. lol :rolf:

Re: What did you do today 2016?

Nicely done Pete. I finally got all the Kay County Osage split, treated, and sealed. Gonna be some nice bows in that. I picked up a "found dead", skull and antlers a few days ago. They're in the clean up process right now. I started an osage bow this weekend from some 2013 Bodark. This bow will be u...

New Bow in the Works

I have a little 56" nock to nock, flipped tip Osage going. It'll have Bighorn tip overlays. It has lots of red highlights in the wood, plus some really dark, almost brown, and light-like sapwood on the back. It'll be a unique colored bow. It also has a wide spot around a knot in the bottom limb and ...

Re: What did you do today 2016?

Well looks like the post OJam XII era should begin. Today we had a beautiful day in Kansas. Very little wind, middle 70's for temp. It was a good day for some projects.. Started a pork butt around 8:30 a.m. Then I went to the garden and fired up the tiller, tilling my whole garden up. Still extremel...

Todd, I'll do a layout and rough out. I'm thinking Rodney Wilson may do the debarking and sapwood removal with whatever the tool is called.
I'll try to avoid a lot of splitting but would do just a seminar Q and A about cutting wood, and taking care of it so as to not turn it into firewood.
