Re: what did you do today - 2019

I finished up the deer calls this morning and got them to the post office. They are headed for Edmond, Ok. for the Oklahoma Selfbow Society auction and raffle at the banquet next weekend on the 2nd. https://i.imgur.com/WC8X1lI.jpg My daughter gave me an Academy Sports gift card for Christmas so I bo...

Finished the lathe work on the deer calls a little while ago. Now they need a finish coat (or three) sprayed on.

Re: Let's Build a Camper

Next step was raising the walls. I made two 90* brackets and screwed and clamped them into position on the deck, put a good bead of construction adhesive on the deck to set the bottom stringer on and then set the wall in place and screwed and clamped them to the 90* brackets. Lots of deck screws wen...

Re: Let's Build a Camper

Cold here today. 20* with a hard north wind blowing so I worked in the woodshop for a while. When I added the 1-1/2X1-1/2 stringers to the wall sections I set the bottom stringer in 2" up from the bottom edge. This will allow the wall to extend down the 2" thickness of the floor. After all the strin...

Re: Let's Build a Camper

After a lot of head scratching I decided to go with a 16" radius on the front and back curve of the roof. That radius would not impede any storage area and would also make it a little less wind resistant while towing. I built a circle cutting jig for my band saw and went to work. https://i.imgur.com...

Let's Build a Camper

I've slept in a lot of tents, some RV's, and a lot of campers. I still own a 16' pop-up but am getting tired of the set-up and wanted something lighter for short trips. I started looking at building a tear drop style but decided to design this one so I can add a rooftop rack to carry a canoe and bic...

Re: what did you do today - 2019

Spent most of the afternoon prepping blanks to make some deer grunt calls. These will be donated to the Oklahoma Selfbow Society for their raffle and auction at next month's banquet. The raffle and auction are fund raisers for the selfbow jamboree in March. I've got two Zebrawood, one Red Oak, and o...

Re: what did you do today - 2019

40 inches? Hope that helps your drought conditions a little. It snowed once here back in November about 2". The last two days have been in the 60-65* range. Real January weather here. I've been a little busy around here. I finally decided it was time to retire my old Stihl 026. I bought it 26 years ...

Looks good Cap. Nice to see you are still working. I ordered a flintlock kit from Kibler Longrifles a couple of weeks ago. I'm not that far into building one from scratch.

I started another R/D bow a few days ago. Making this one out of curly maple.

Unlike what the democrats are bemoaning as gloom and doom the only gvt things that are shut down are the non-essential services such as national parks, forest service, etc. Social Security will continue.

Went down in the basement to get my carving spoon that I had in a filing cabinet. Opened up the bottom drawer and found this squatter in in. He wasn't real happy about being evicted. I am overrun with Rat snakes here and pull at least one out of the basement every year. This makes #2 this year and m...

Most of the contacts are confirmed with LoTW (Logbook of The World) or Eqsl computer software. Some still send out QSL confirmation cards but when you work a lot of contacts the postage costs can run really high. I got my Ham license last April and so far the postage costs would be around $80 not co...

That solar array looks impressive. Watch out for the electric cars. I read an article about an electric car's battery bank catching fire and reigniting three more times afterwards. I've been busy as a cat covering stuff up. Last Tuesday I made some last minute gifts on my wood lathe. I turned a coup...

Facebook sucked them in.

I was looking through my pictures earlier and thought about doing a build-along on the mini camper I built last year. I wanted something small and light that I could tow with my Bravada.

I'm still here. I set up Tradrag as my home page so it shows up every time I start my browser.
I started checking the Leatherwall a little more often. Seems like that site is a little more civil now-a-days..
Facebook sure screwed up the forums.

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm going to do some bow work in the wood shop today. Tomorrow I'm headed for Tulsa (2 1/2 hr drive) to watch my youngest daughter race in the BMX Grand Nationals (bicycle motocross). Three years ago she won the #1 plate in her age group in the Race of Champions. Hoping for a re...

Some good shooting there. A bag target won't jump the string or cause an adrenaline rush like a live target though. :archer2:

Here's the aftermath of the 80 mph winds we had. Once the doors finally pushed in the whole building blew apart.
The building across the highway is the township fire department. They had to replace it because of structural damage to the steel framework.
