Re: Anyone Hunting?

I've been trying to go. I've made a couple of trips but trips this year are not looking too good. Dad had a stroke and my wife had a heart attack earlier this year. Family matters is higher priority.

Nice job. I have something similar. I wished I had the side overhangs. I ran electric out to mine and Installed an AC window unit so I can get away from the wife at times.

Re: Bear and deer loading for solo hunters

Looks good. I didn't think about a trough ramp. I've done something similar with some solid ramps that are hinged from Harbor freight. Your ramp would be slicker. One time I had to balance a deer on a 2x4 while pulling the rope standing in the bed.

Gone but not forgotten.

Our buddy Ed Blankenship, aka Callmaker, has passed over the weekend. The doctor found stage 4 lung cancer a couple of weeks ago. We my and I visited him and his wife a couple of times over the past 10 years. Both trips required a cross country drive that included going black bear hunting. He will b...

Re: Any suggestions

I'm, for one, am not opposed to a person having to use a release with traditional equipment if will help them enjoy the sport, outdoors, etc. I tried one for a couple of shots but since I normally release quickly it didn't feel right. If I had to use one I would have to change my shooting style. hav...

Re: fletching equipment

I used to have a Jo-jan 6 arrow fletcher but now just use a single. this way I take my time and make sure each feather is on correctly and there are no gaps between the quill and the shaft.
my suggestion is don't skimp on quality.

Re: Target suggestions

You could build a 3 sided lean-to type shelter from old pallet wood and put a sand pile in the back of it. I saw this set up in a magazine once and it looked pretty neat. Broadheads won't hurt it. All you have to do is rake or shovel the sand back up on the pile occasionally. I wanted to do this bu...

Re: Target suggestions

last year at a shoot I bought a Blob target. it is basically the left over rubber glue that is used on the back of carpet that has been dumped in a box and allowed to harden. they work good for broadheads and FPs. tough target but it is the same as the others when you get to shooting a lot of BHs in...

the Texas rabbits I have shot I used a fender washer behind a field point, that was several years ago. I've been trying to shoot some squirrels with Ace hex heads but haven't been successfully.
