Thank you for the information! It looks like a handy camp knife.

Go to the Roll Call thread and scroll down to the finished photos. I thought there were more photos of the build but they may not have transferred over.
Welcome to the fire, by the way! Hope to see more action on this site like it USED to be....

Re: Finding replacement mohair
The bottom photo looks like it has a radiused shelf with the high point at the middle; I would move the rest and strike plate forward to that point. As long as the strike plate is high enough to protect the riser from the fletching it should be good enough. I tend to make mine taller and longer, jus...

Re: outa state killin
You can also get your deer tag & go after the little blacktail deer. Just remember, a forked horn may be 4 years old. Not all of them carry large racks at an "advanced" age! Bring rain gear and good rubber boots, knee highs are best, and Xtratuffs are what the locals all wear.

Re: outa state killin
As an ex-Alaskan, I would suggest to look at going for a black bear. Maybe not quite the thrill of shooting a brownie but you don't need a guide; you can put together a DYI hunt on Prince of Wales Island and only pay the out-of-state tags for a bear and deer if you want one. Spring bear you have to ...

Re: Wood arrow spine
Get a spine kit from 3 Rivers for the arrows you want to shoot, with some below and some above the 40 lb. they will give you 2 arrows in each weight of spine in 5 # increments. So maybe 30-35, 35-40, 40-45, 45-50. Of course you might end up like me, where it doesn't seem to matter and I use them all...

I've used various pieces of flint, also some chert. Even the flint which came with the steel wouldn't spark. And I bought it about 30 years ago, so it's too late to complain!

So, the "paddle" goes inside your waist band? I've been trying to figure a way to carry my Case Trapper without a belt.

That's beautiful, as usual! I wish I could do that well. I recently made a patchbox for the Deer Creek rifle and the inletting went terribly wrong. It is fairly well masked with colored bedding compound, but not pretty when you look close!

Excellent! I admire your craftsmanship. I'm (slowly) putting together a canoe but that is on hold right now because all the space in my small shop is taken over by the gardening and yard equipment. Besides, there is no heat in there and we have been having Winter weather here lately, off and on.

Yeah, once the others discovered Facebook, they were gone within a month. There are some of us who are hanging on but I think even we are fading out of the picture. Here is the link on how to post pictures. I think it's about the same procedure as most other sites have. http://www.tradrag.com/forum/...

Re: what did you do today - 2019
Haven't done much so far this year. Replaced a bunch of 1" blinds with 2" around the house until I ran out. Lots of fiddling around to begin with, but by the time I was on number 4 it went easier; strange how that works out! I hope to get out in the woods tomorrow. Today was the last of a four day M...
